I started this blog because I was tired of hearing nothing but negative things about North Philly. Even though I have only lived here for less than a year, I've recognized that North Philly is so much more than the"Hood". Yes, it may look rundown and blightful on the surface, but behind the trash, crime, and grimy exterior there is a wonderful part of the city full of beauty, adventure, and unique qualities you won't find anywhere else in Philadelphia. I believe that if we all work together as neighbors through service, kindness, and supporting one another as a community, we can replace the label of "The Hood" with the Neighborhood. My blog is my way of showing outsiders and current residents all North Philly has to offer. From the various local business and restaurants, to volunteer organizations and events held here.I will give my readers a taste of it all. I even give a glimpse into my own personal life to keep you guys updated with what's going on with Si in my Life as Si tab. There, I plan to showcase my passion for beauty, fashion, food, art, and so much more. Thanks so much for visiting my blog, and I look forward to sharing with you all ... The Beauty Behind the Blight. ~ Siani
